By Dana Goldberg

Don't panic if your iPod has a sad face or is frozen. You love your tunes and it is obvious, so let's try to get it fixed before you absolutely freak out. There are even iPod recovery programs you can download so not all is lost.

It is really important that you do not plug your iPod into iTunes. It will mess up of you do so leave that alone for now while we work on some other ways to recover your data. A recovery program will tell you when it is okay to plug back in. If your iPod is just frozen you many not need to recover data so try this first.

Try resetting your iPod first. If it is just frozen you may not need to use a recovery program. For your specific model there is a particular direction which you will need to do a search on how to unfreeze your iPod. There it should have the directions for your model. If this works great, but if not you will need to get a software recovery program for the iPod.

Look for a software recovery program for the iPod specifically online. You can download a program easily and follow the step by step instructions. You can find them for free or for a minimal charge, but it is worth it to get all of your data back.

Many of the programs have a quick start guide that you can follow easily. Just make sure that you follow any of the instructions step by step. If you have water damage that is a bummer. Try placing your device right away in uncooked rice to see if it will soak up any of the moisture. Do this completely before you try a recovery program.

Don't let your iPod sad face get you down. Try to reset your device first and if that does not work then download the recovery program and follow the directions. It is usually a really good chance that you will get your data back.
